Advantages compared to pitch and phenolic resin
REFRAFLEX® offers decisive advantages compared to pitch bonding with its characteristic polycyclic aromates. But also when compared with conventional phenolic resin binders, REFRAFLEX® exhibits its capabilities: The carbon generated during coking becomes neither rigid nor brittle. No cracks result under excess loading, because the carbon from the bonding phase exhibits graphite-like properties already at very low application temperatures.
REFRAFLEX®
Bonding agent for the future
CERAMAC® is the smoke-free and odourless supplement for MACARBON®
Reduced emissions thanks to pre-firing
Fulfilled environmental regulations, longer service life
These were the aims at the start of CERAMAC® development. Thermal pre-treatment removes all volatile constituents from the bricks.
The release of particles and smoke generation are reduced to a minimum. Thanks to pre-firing, the bricks verifiably exhibit properties that are more homogeneous during heating up and operation, which contributes to longer service life and cost reductions.
MACARBON® with Low-Alpha technology for high thermomechanical loading
Thermal expansion is reduced by 30 % (integral)
Improved durability under extreme temperature changes
The Low-Alpha technology reduces the thermal expansion of MgO-C bricks considerably, thereby also reducing the mechanical stresses decisively.
Open joints or steel infiltration between working and safety linings are prevented, and joint wear is reduced. This also significantly improves the refractory lining's durability. In addition, service life is increased, and the necessary wall thicknesses are maintained.
